Four Day Buteyko Course for Children and Adults (1310)

Introduction

The Buteyko Method was developed by Russian Dr Konstantin Buteyko who discovered the role between poor breathing habits and how this negatively affects our health.

LSFO in association with ButeykoClinic.com are offering a practical Buteyko Breathing workshop to help address rhinitis, mouth breathing, asthma, snoring, sleep apnoea, stress and anxiety. Suitable for all children over 5 years and adults.

The first step of the Buteyko Method is to unblock the nose using a breath hold exercise. This is followed by practicing breathing exercises designed to reverse poor breathing habits such as mouth breathing, upper chest breathing, sighing, irregular and chronic over breathing. Lifestyle factors such as sleeping, physical exercise and diet are also discussed.

 

Course Structure

4 x 1 hour introduction course, for children and for adults

Course 1 for children aged 5 to 15/16

Course 2 for adults aged 16 onwards

Buteyko instructor; Patrick McKeown trained under the tutelage of Dr Buteyko, and has taught this method to thousands of children and adults over the past 11 years. He has penned eight books including three Amazon best sellers: Close Your Mouth, Anxiety Free and Asthma Free naturally.

 

Better Facial Development and Dental Health

Thousands of dentists and orthodontists worldwide recognise that habitual mouth breathing causes narrow facial structure, undeveloped jaws, craniofacial abnormalities and crooked teeth in children, not to mention dental decay and gum disease. For normal development of the face to take place, it is very important that the child learns to breathe through their nose with their tongue in the correct resting posture.

Average results from five clinical trials investigating the Buteyko Method for asthma show a 90% reduced need for reliever medication and a 50% reduced need for preventer steroid within three to six months. Stop Snoring and sleep apnoea

Heavy breathing during sleep creates turbulence as a large volume of air is inhaled through the mouth, nose or both. All snorers are heavy breathers. Sleep apnoea is a progression of snoring. By decongesting the nose, and correcting breathing volume to normal levels, snoring ceases. Expect at least a 50% reduction of snoring and significant improvement to energy levels within two weeks.

Results at three month follow up

The study showed a significant reduction of nasal symptoms in asthmatics across all three ENT department evaluations. For example, NOSE evaluation surveys nasal congestion or stuffiness, poor sense of smell, snoring, nasal blockage or obstruction, trouble breathing through the nose, trouble sleeping, having to breathe through the mouth, unable to get enough air through the nose during exercise or exertion and feeling panic that one cannot get enough air through the nose. This evaluation showed a 71% reduction of rhinitis symptoms in asthma at three month follow up.

 

Significantly improve concentration

Habitual mouth breathing or sighing can cause 50% constriction of the main carotid artery to the brain. Persons who over breathe often experience brain fog, racing mind, panic attacks, fatigue, excessive worry and poor concentration.
