This course is suitable for trainee dental nurses who wish to gain a GDC registerable qualification. The NEBDN curriculum is delivered in class based teaching sessions where theory and practical aspects of examination requirements are covered.

Support for professional development and thereby improvement in patient care, is the focus of our approach. We encourage students to take ownership of their training, develop a professional attitude and use reflective skills.

The Course:

  • Has NEBDN (National Examining Board for Dental Nurses) approval
  • Comprises face to face teaching, structured class and workplace activities, coursework, research and home study
  • Regular assessments ensure progressive learning
  • Dedicated revision sessions prepare the students for the written and practical exams
  • Employers are provided with 3 monthly progress reports

The on-line ‘Record of Experience’ (eRoE)

This forms part of the on-going assessment of training and development. Students will complete on-line log sheets of workplace activities which have been observed by a GDC registered staff member (‘Witness’) nominated by the Employer. The ‘Witness’ then assesses the log sheets and completes online feedback for the student to read. The Tutor then checks and signs this off.

Online Training for ‘Witnesses’ (mandatory)

NEBDN now requires all Witnesses to complete an online training module to ensure that the log sheets are assessed according to the set standards they provide.

Contact with the Employer and workplace

Employers will receive an information pack and a workplace representative will be invited to a 30 minute introduction session on the first course date. We will send 3 monthly progress reports and make contact if any concerns are raised during the training period. We are happy to discuss any queries or concerns the workplace may have at any time during the course.

Student support

Students are encouraged to inform us prior to starting the course of any support needed related to a disability or other reason. Students can discuss support needs with us at any time. 3 one to one progress reviews are held during the course and Tutors provide ongoing feedback for coursework, tests and general progress either verbally, in writing or via email.
