Course Overview

Session 1

Friday’s lecture will focus on the philosophy of Orthotropics® (Facial Growth Guidance). The philosophy will explore why faces (and teeth) do not grow ideally, how altered rest oral posture affects the growth of the entire lower face, and how to arrest and reverse this process with Orthotropics®. The entire first day is used to develop all the ideas that encompass the philosophy behind the treatment. The first half of Saturday morning will be spent at the Hampton Inn. The beginning appointments of Orthotropics® treatment will be described and the first appliance, the Hang Expancer, will be introduced. Enough information will be given to each participant that they should be able to go back to their practices and begin selecting and treating patients. We will then go to Dr. Hang’s office where each participant will be given a Hang Expancer (the first appliance in the treatment sequence). Participants will learn to insert and adjust Hang Expancers in each others mouths. Saturday afternoon will be spent at Dr. Hang’s office actually seeing some of his patients that have Hang Expancers and watching him adjust the appliances.

Session 2

Friday morning will focus on reviewing cases YOU have brought – either already in Orthotropic® treatment or asking if they would be good candidates for Orthotropics®. Friday afternoon there will be a review of the Hang Expancer and presentation of the ADAPT-LGR® appliance (Stage 3 Biobloc per Dr Mew), how it is adjusted and worn, etc. Saturday will be spent at Dr. Hang’s office seeing Orthotropics® patients.

Session 3

Friday morning will focus on reviewing cases YOU have brought – either already in Orthotropic® treatment or asking if they would be good candidates for Orthotropics®. Friday afternoon will be a discussion about presenting Orthotropics® treatment to potential patients and some tips for adjusting appliances. Saturday will be spent at Dr. Hang’s office seeing Orthotropics® patients.

Session 4

Friday morning will focus on reviewing cases YOU have brought – either already in Orthotropic® treatment or asking if they would be good candidates for Orthotropics®. Friday afternoon my functional therapists Barbara Greene and Joy Moeller will talk about the importance of my functional therapy and what can be accomplished with a disciplined patient. Friday evening there will be a dinner at Dr. Hang’s home. This is open to all participants, their team members, and families. Saturday will be spent at Dr. Hang’s office seeing Orthotropics® patients.

Suggested Accommodations

There are 3 restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotels: a brew pub; and Italian restaurant; and the restaurant in the Sheraton Hotel.

Airports & Ground Transportation

Most participants fly into LAX. Burbank airport is also a possibility – fewer flights but a smaller/ easier airport. Both are approximately 45 minutes away (if traffic is light!). Saturday afternoon of the first session and all day Saturday for the second, third, and fourth sessions will be held at Dr. Hang’s office (30200 Agoura Road, Suite 220, Agoura Hills, CA). Most of our past participants rented cars but you can opt to take a shuttle  www.rrshuttle.com or www.supershuttle.com from LAX or Burbank to the hotel and then get a ride with someone else to the office. (The office is very near both hotels but up a long steep hill!)
